Down on the Farm

This Wednesday we took a trip way out of the city to a children's farm. There were alpacas, ducks, chickens, birds, miniature horses, a goat, a pig, sheep, a guinea pig, bunnies, cats, a lizard, and lots of opportunities to get dirty. Zeke of course enjoyed the contact with animals, but actually was most engaged with a train table in a playroom in the "farm house" and a little red wagon to pull. He also enjoyed the picnic we had in Sprout Daddy's car (sorry, Aaron!) when it started to drizzle. I'm a flexible parent and try not to be uptight -- kids are supposed to get messy and farms are messy -- but by the end I think I went through too many wet wipes! (I also wish the ground was a little more even -- more in next post on this and the resulting "souvenir".) This was a first for me. Still, I'm always excited for new experiences for Zeke and for us to spend time with friends.

The enclosure works well for all the bunnies -- seems to stand up well for my mischief maker, too!

Zeke marvels to see an actual cat -- one that will let Zeke pet him and one that isn't hiding in fear of a certain toddler. I told the kitties at home afterwards how nice Zeke was to the farm cats, but I don't think the boys could hear me from under the bed.

A photo of Ewan, Parker and Zeke almost sitting still and almost looking in the same direction.

These boys go way back together. As a reference, this is a photo of Parker, Ewan and Zeke last year at Halloween when we all attended Little Gym classes and their new skill was standing! Oh, it just breaks my heart to see how they have grown.

Jamie, was this petting farm in the community of Serenbe? Michael and I stayed at the Inn at Serenbe for a couple of nights during our summer vacation. It was such a lovely oasis in the bustling Atlanta area. We couldn't believe it was just 40 minutes outside the "bit city."

It looks as if the boys had a rip-roarin' time at the farm and, "Yes," they certainly have grown! How nice to see the pictures for comparison. It won't seem but a minute and you'll be comparing their high school graduation photos with these. But that's too sad to even think about right now. Just enjoy them each minute of every day!

Love,
Diane
