If I could save time in a bottle... (48 weeks, 2 days)

Dear About Sprout Readers:

Have you been watching the little ticker at the top of the blog when you check in on us? Do you see what is happening? Do you see that little baby crawling past the "12"? Sprout is on that same track and headed towards being a one year old. What a journey we have all taken together!

Readers, I try not to trouble you for much other than to come and see us every once in a while (and to have patience with me when posting is sparse), but with Sprout practically a toddler, I have a favor to ask -- or, if you will, an invitation.

In honor of his first birthday, I am making something of a time capsule for Baby. I'd like to fill it with a few reminders of the time Baby was born into, as well as a few keepsakes of the first year (a favorite onesie, an archive of the blog, a family portrait). What I am really interested in, though, is including something from you. What? Well, an email, a letter, a photo, or anything he might be interested in 20 years from now in 2027. (I haven't quite decided, but I think I will give this to him on his 21st birthday.)

Be as creative or as straightforward as you like. Maybe you would like to look to the future -- make predictions about the future or give some advice to the adult Sprout. Maybe you can think about the near past and share a favorite memory. Maybe just send a message of hello. I just want to include something from the people who have shared this experience with us.

Also, let me know if you have any ideas about things that you think I should put with this collection -- I know you all will have good ideas.

Please, please consider participating! Maybe it's a little silly, but you'll be saving me from having to find him a birthday gift in a couple of decades. Don't rush your decision -- you've got a month to decide. I can't wait. Thank you!

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you

...

If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you

That's an absolutely wonderful idea! I might have to borrow that one from you when Chris turns one! I'm hoping to send something to add to the capsule if that's okay... Nice chatting with you and look forward to more soon!

If you have an extra minute, you can follow the link for "Time in the Bottle" to see a 1970's video for the song. I find it very touching.

What a great idea! Hope you don't mind that I shamelessly steal the idea from you for Ewan's first birthday as well!!!
